Sunny but Chilly Weekend

First day off in twelve days and I got to spend some much needed outside time. Even though most of it was spent cleaning up everyone's trash which ended up in my lawn and along my fence and woods when we had high winds a couple of weeks ago. But outside time is outside time. Fresh air. Sunshine. Digging in the dirt.
Today, I worked at the shop and had a couple of clients, then I came home to dinner compliments of my daughter. Ribs, baked potato, corn and an apple for dessert. Then I got the hot tub cleaned and refilled. I can't wait to get the flowerpots out and fill them with a riot of colorful blooms. Right now, there's a lone little basket of pansies on the front porch, but they will soon be joined by some wave petunias, and I found some really cool solar lights at the Dollar General that look like antique workshop lights to alternate between the hanging baskets.
There's something to be said about solar lights. They used to be boring one size fits all, but now they come in all shapes and sizes. I have a pair of angels holding a light which looks like a crystal ball. And I have two wrought iron faeries holding lanterns that I think I'll put in my wildflower bed that I'm getting ready to extend a little bit more around the mulberry tree and honeysuckle bush out back. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to put out by the road, and it looks like I'm going to have to do some work on my mailbox area because I think that the snowplow hit it earlier this winter. That or the mailman. It's leaning more than the Tower of Pisa. So yeah, it needs some work done.
We did get the seeds started. Well, my daughter did. I bought her two miniature greenhouses with their own set of lights in each. We have broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, birdhouse gourds, and a few herbs. The rest of the things we will sow directly in the garden. I think I love spring almost as much as I love autumn. Almost.
I did get some work done on my new series this week between the day job and getting ready for our event in southern Indiana. Plant the Seed is a homesteaders' event and I'm really looking forward to some of the workshops they are offering. I still have a lot to do, but this coming weekend is a three day one, so I have some extra time on my hands to get everything ready to go. Then I'm taking the following Friday off to finish up our baked goods for our booth.
The dogs have come over to stand in front of me to signal that they are ready for bed. I have to beat the big one to the bedroom or she deposits her big butt across the entire middle of the bed and leaves no room for me at all. I suppose with that said, I'm going to follow their lead and curl up with Wild Scottish Gold by Tricia O'Malley. I try to spend an hour each night reading but sometimes, I fall asleep long before my hour is up.
Have a great week, everyone!! And head over to my readers' group on Facebook for a sneak peek into my latest series...just find Books, Broomsticks and Baubles on the FB and follow along as I introduce you to the series and its characters.
