February Author Spotlight - Ginger Ring

Writer: Teresa KeeferTeresa Keefer

This month, I am featuring the red-headed wonder...Ginger Ring! In addition to writing mafia romance, Ginger is also a cover model and one of the organizers of Wild Deadwood Reads and Romantic Galena Reads. I am blessed to include her in my small circle of friends.

Ginger resides in Wisconsin with her husband and works in the health care industry. We have had a lot of great experiences since I met Ginger at the very first Wild Deadwood Reads including ghost hunts, paranormal conferences, and weekend girls' getaways with our other amazing author friend Tina Susedik who was last month's featured author. I absolutely loved her most recent release called The Fixer...talk about a stay up all night page turner!!

Here is Ginger's interview:

Other than writing, what are some of your other hobbies and interests?

I love history so visiting historical sites is always a treat. I’m also a huge cat lover, I like to cook, and of course, I love to read.

If you could spend the day with anyone—living or in spirit—who would you spend it with and what would you talk about?

I think I would love to hear from our early settlers. Every time I go out west, I am fascinated by the vastness of the country, and I can’t image traveling to unknown areas in a cover wagon. Meeting Princess Diana would be cool too.

Of all the events in your life, which one made the greatest impact and why?

Meeting my husband. It’s hard to believe we met over 30 years ago. We’ve gone through a lot in those years, and I can’t image life without him.

Most authors are readers as well. Do you write the same genre of books that you like to read, or do you write about what is most popular in the market?

I’ve never written what was popular. I think I was one of the first to write mafia/gangster and now it is very popular so you never know what will be the next in thing. I write for enjoyment so I write what I am interested in at the time and I hope others will find it fun to read as well.

What gives you inspiration and ideas for your books?

Ghost stories and history.

Do you like to set your books in fictional places, or do you prefer setting them in actual places? Why?

I base them on real places and then give it a twist.

What kinds of scenes are the easiest for you to write? What about the most difficult?

Easiest – fight and action scenes.  Most difficult – make love scenes unique.

If I met you in an elevator and you discovered I was an avid reader, give me your elevator speech:

I would ask what type of books you read. If I had a book that was of that genre, I would tell them about it. If not, I would suggest a book that they might be interested in.

If you are looking to meet Ginger and hear about her books, you will be able to find her this year at Wild Deadwood Reads, Deadwood, SD on June 14, 2025 or at Romantic Galena Reads on September 6, 2025. You can also visit her website at https://gingerring.com
